Water Treatment
Raw, untreated water comes from a variety of sources including underground sources such as an aquifer or surface water sources such as a lake, river, or reservoir, and therefore will contain numerous contaminants depending on its source. Since water is widely used in almost all manufacturing processes as well as consumer consumption, it may require minimal treatment, be highly regulated, and thus have strict criteria that must be applied or require near-pristine quality for the application. Control of dissolved and undissolved solids, as well as microbial management, will be required, often using multiple processes to meet the necessary purity standard for point of use or point of entry applications. Water must not only be treated coming into a process but it often must be treated after the process to minimize the risk of damage or contamination to the environment.
