Types of Nuclear Fuel Pool Filter Solutions Offered by Graver Technologies

Graver Technologies provides comprehensive nuclear spent fuel pool filtration systems engineered specifically for the demanding requirements of nuclear facilities. Our extensive product portfolio addresses diverse operational needs through specialized filtration technologies.

  1. GRAVEX® High-Capacity Nuclear Grade Resins: These Gravex Nuclear Grade Ion exchange resins are very high-capacity polystyrene, gel-type resins that have been regenerated and processed to provide the highest possible performance in nuclear applications. The GR-3-16 NG (H/OH) mixed bed resin offers exceptional chemical and physical resistance to aggressive spent fuel pool environments, while GR-2-16 NG provides enhanced particle size characteristics that resist separation and limit potential cation settlement in vessel bottoms. The particle size of the GR-2-16 NG cation component further enhances resistance to separation, limiting the potential for a bottom layer of cation exchange resin in the vessel.
  2. Aegis® PowerGuard® Septa: Graver Aegis PowerGuard Septa and specialty strainers are multilayer composites of selected wire cloths, perforated sheets and fiber metal felts permanently bonded together through a diffusion process. These stainless steel filtration elements provide superior strength and abrasion resistance for critical nuclear applications, including fuel pool filters, offering precise pore size control from 1 to 200 microns. PowerGuard Septa is the best choice for critical applications including condensate, polishing, radioactive waste, nuclear reactor water cleanup (RWCU) and fuel pool filters in either new construction or retrofits.
  3. Ecodex (P-201-H and P-202-H): Ecodex precoat products are homogeneous mixtures that combine inert microfine fibers with two powdered ion exchange resins: strongly acidic Powdex cation and strongly basic Powdex anion resins. The P-201-H formulation provides a balanced 1:1 fiber-to-resin ratio for optimal filtration performance, while P-202-H offers enhanced resin content with a 1:2 fiber-to-resin ratio for applications requiring increased ion exchange capacity. Continuous cleaning and filtration with Ecodex P-201-H or P-202-H maintains fuel pool parameters.

Key Features of Nuclear Fuel Pool Filters

Our nuclear fuel pool water treatment solution incorporate advanced engineering principles to deliver superior performance in the most demanding nuclear environments.

  • Highly Stable Specialty Nuclear Grade Mixed Bed: The specialty nuclear grade mixed bed resins help control sulfate levels in the spent fuel pool. This ensures that the water remains free of contaminants that could potentially harm the pool’s water quality. The stability of these resins ensures long-lasting performance under harsh radioactive conditions.
  • Simultaneous Deionization and Radionuclide Reduction: The filters deionize and reduce radionuclides simultaneously, maintaining excellent water clarity in nuclear cooling pools. The dual-action filtration is designed to provide high levels of contaminant removal while also ensuring that the water quality remains clear and safe for the long-term storage of spent nuclear fuel.
  • High Capacity and Ion Exchange Efficiency: Graver Technologies’ filters use advanced resins with high capacity for ion exchange, allowing them to remove contaminants and radionuclides from nuclear fuel pool water effectively. This capacity ensures that spent fuel pool water remains safe and clear, meeting the stringent standards required for nuclear reactor pool filters.
  • Durability and Radiation Resistance: Graver fuel pool filters are designed to operate effectively in high-radiation environments. These filters are built to last and resist degradation due to exposure to radioactive materials, ensuring the long-term reliability of the nuclear fuel pool filtration system.
